Bio

Theatre and film costume designer. Her work focuses on the contribution of costume to a more modern performance through experimentation with various materials and techniques. Recent collaborations in theatre: Medea, Y. Kalavrianos (National Theatre of Greece, Epidaurus 2022), Short Gunshots During the Night, Y. Kalavrianos (Art Theatre Karolos Koun 2022), Phaedra On Fire, Y. Kalavrianos (Little Theatre in Epidaurus 2021), Hedda Gabler, Th. Moumoulidis (2020), Hotel Éternité, Y. Kalavrianos (Little Theatre in Epidaurus 2020), Mama Rosa, K. Tsianos (2019) et.al. She has collaborated with Disney and Warner Bros at their UK studios. Recent collaborations: Drift, Anthony Chen (2022), The Crimes of the Future, D. Cronenberg (2021), Greek Freak, Akin Omotosso (2021), Cinderella, Kay Cannon (2020), Mary Magdalene, Garth Davis (2018), Justice League, Zack Snyder – Warner Bros (2017), Beauty & the Beast, Disney (2016) et.al. She graduated from the Graphic Design Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens and after receiving her MA in Costume Design for Performance at the London College of Fashion she was resident at the Robert Wilson’s Watermill Centre Laboratory for Performance in New York.

To create the performance characters, I drew on Bost’s multifaceted aesthetics and surreal solemnity. Costumes were inspired by various time periods and formed a complex of aesthetics intended to exaggerate the image of each role/character. Medea is for me a landmark project both art-wise -Epidaurus for the first time- and personally as I had my first baby at the time. Via the experience of the pandemic, we largely familiarised ourselves with digital communication, which in this particular case became the primary tool for realising the project. Fittings, changes and selection of costumes via a digital platform would have seemed impossible a few years ago; however, only a few months ago it was perfectly normal for all this to be achieved over a phone camera. Medea is for me a unique art project that offered me the chance to create new ways of communicating my ideas and practices as a costume designer.
