For the purposes of the performance, the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus is blooming. Starting from the yard of the existing building, which dramaturgically works as the “residence”, the Epidaurian nature encroaches the theatre reaching the orchestra, thus forming a unique garden. Among the vegetation, we see the remains of phone booths to which our female protagonist runs to hear for the last time the voice of her beloved, soon to abandon her. In a dream-like landscape, in which the sense of time and space is lost and with the ancient theatre in the background, we set up a separation monument. To emphasise the realistic impression of the garden, five hundred real potted plants were used. Also, actual OTE phone booths were used such as those found in the Greek urban landscape and in the countryside. The creation of this garden, as a separation monument, a means to cope with grief and abandonment, was also personally redeeming in the unprecedented and bleak context of the pandemic.
