MR AND MRS LOT

Bio

Set designer based in Athens. As a theatre studies graduate from the University of the Peloponnese in 2014, I had the opportunity to work as a set designer & art director for several theatre productions. This degree equipped me with invaluable skills regarding dramaturgy, criticism, writing and directing and gave me essential theatre theory knowledge. These skills enabled me to gain work exprience in various roles including assistant director, writer and co-director and allowed me to pursue a Masters Degree in Theatre Design at the University of the Arts London. As a set designer, I have worked in various theatre and art spaces in Athens.

My goal regarding the set design of the performance was for the set to depict an alternative version of William Waterhouse’s painting The Lady of Shalott and at the same time to be as portable and budget friendly as possible. The protective bubble wrap worked as a waterfall at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus and as a protective veil for the two actors-exhibits at Tempus Verum and on the Patras tour, while the bathtub used as the perfect boat for a noble lady remained the main object of the set. Finally, I wanted the two heroes presented as two exhibits travelling from venue to venue. If I was to describe the performance, I would probably say that it could fit or adapt in any situation. This set had to be put on stage and removed in every performance, to travel to three different venues and it was made into a short movie, as well.
