THE HOUSE

Bio

Visual artist, author and stage designer. She studied scenography in Florence Academy of Art. With her regular collaborator, sound designer Alexis Retsis, she has researched different aspects of theatrical format. In The House, their fourth performance, they explored the possibilities of psychoacoustics, how new technologies can be integrated in the scenic space and what effect they have on the immersion of the viewer/listener. The House was first presented in 2018 at Megaron The Athens Concert Hall.

Α hybrid cross arts theatre performance, this is an allegory of the illusion of freedom, an acrobatic feat of three people between the rational and irrational. The actors’ recorded text was the outcome of equal collaboration. The creators designed the part they were assigned individually and the day prior to the performance we had the chance to see it in its entirety: this form of collaboration encouraged us to trust one another’s skills. It was presented at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall underground car park which was arranged to resemble a light-and-sound walk ending at a dome. With the help of earphones and completely isolated, the viewers listened to the text and at the same time watched the projected visual stimuli both as viewers and as part of the performance. The intention/ outcome was a profoundly emotional experience of immersion demanding that all senses be vigilant.
