In this comedy by Aristophanes, women take a leading role, by sexual abstinence, abolishing the idea that sexual intercourse is men’s entitlement. A lunar landscape was the key idea for the set design depicting female landscapes. The Moon is the female beginning of world’s creation and the door to the mystical nature of humanity and universe. As the performance was presented after the first lockdown, the pandemic-induced measures largely determined the design. Such a mathematical restriction changed the compositional process. Thus, craters were placed at a distance of at least two meters in compliance with safety rules to avoid spreading Covid. In that way, the craters worked as signposts for the necessary distance between actors without the audience being aware of that.
