Bio

Visual artist and stage designer principally interested in the concept of atmosphere, construction of virtual worlds and digital handicraft. Her practice lies in the use of digital technologies, e-textiles, traditional handicrafts and everyday objects and is intended to immerse people in intertextual, non-linear environments that re-appreciate collective memory and nostalgia as well as to explore emerging narratives of gendered experience in time and space. She originally studied Architecture (National Technical University of Athens, 2010) specialising in new media and digital construction methodologies (IAAC, 2012), as well as multimedia and graphic design (Hellenic Open University, 2020). She has designed the set for dance productions, films and festivals and she was selected to provide curator’s proposals and for interactive works of art in many festivals and exhibitions in Europe (Hybrids, OCC Athens & Ars Electronica 2016, IMPAKT 2014, London Festival of Architecture 2014 et.al.). She conducts interactive workshops of new media emphasising on the significance of women’s work and traditional handicraft. Additionally, she collaborates with Horizon 2020 programmes, i.e. SheMakes intended to empower future women pioneering in sustainable fashion industry and Pop Machina focusing on environmental sustainability, circular economy and makers movement.

In this performance, the stage is formed by three hundred beer crates. I explored football as a religion, political action, industry, international language and as a space where subcultures are nurtured. I decided to use an everyday object and create a landscape transcending its ordinary usage. My entire work focuses on creating settings and installations that reveal imaginary narratives intended to critically think the past and activate collective memory. The project became in fact a filmed performance due to the pandemic and met viewers in their familiar space. Such a paradoxical meeting of scales, i.e. the open space of football, the stage and the domestic environment, called for a “special” view through the camera so that the atmosphere could break the fourth wall, now the screen and reach the viewers.
