A woman is in a coma. At the hospital, her husband sits next to her. The first paragraph of the text is written on a visible spot, on stage. “This is the last discussion between organs and body parts of a man and a woman, as recorded on medical devices just before she died…”. The set focuses on the reclining woman. The place is her perception of time and space. Amidst the pandemic the set was build, rehearsals took place, the show was cancelled. A decision was made to expand the collaboration and include a filming crew. Within two days, Liver was filmed and photographed, under the direction of The Boy. The outcome of the entire, multi-dimensional collaboration is now an edited video. It’s not a filmed performance, or a film. However it is what it is in a very concrete way, which we can process and allow it to inspire our understanding of contemporary theatre.
